The Local Ocean Experience

What We Stand For

Behind every plate at Local Ocean is a story of sustainability, innovation, and the fishermen who bring it to life. Experience the journey from sea to table.

The Restaurant

Halibut

Oregon halibut are known to be smaller than those caught in BC or Alaska. We think this makes them more tender and flavorful. The season is short, but is in full-swing this July and August!

Local Ocean - Black Cod

BLACK COD

Delicate and flaky, it has a rich flavor and velvety texture. Black Cod is high in Omega-3’s and is also known as the butterfish.

August is Oregon Albacore Month! Tuna typically shows up on the Oregon Coast in late June and stay until early to late September. There is no set season for Tuna.

The Local Ocean Experience

Employee Owned, Purpose Driven

Local Ocean is held in a Perpetual Purpose Trust, which means it will always be owned by its purpose. This structure keeps the business rooted in Newport, ensures decisions are guided by values rather than shareholders, and gives every team member a real stake in the success of our mission to serve the best of the Oregon Coast.

Honoring the Catch

Using 100% of the Fish

Every fish tells a story, and we believe that story shouldn’t end at the fillet. The 100% Fish Program transforms what was once considered waste into something of lasting value, honoring the full catch and the people who harvest it. By using the whole fish, we’re closing the loop on seafood sustainability and creating a model for a more responsible future.
